The "Five Virtues" is a concept synonymous with the age-old processes and materials employed by Tomatin's distillery men.
"Water feeds wood; wood sustains fire; fire gives life to earth; earth yields metal; metal gathers water; and the cycle continues"
Leading contemporary artist, Eva Ullrich helps to celebrate the Five Virtues has explored these interactions and their role in whisky production. The result is five striking artworks and five unique expressions.
Jennifer Masson, Tomatin marketing manager, said: ‘As our brand grows we are increasingly inspired by global concepts and the Five Virtues series was born out of this inspiration.'
Tomatin Wood has been aged in French, American and Hungarian oak casks.
Tomatin Fire has been matured in rejuvenated, heavily charred oak casks.
Tomatin Earth is a peated malt, matured in refill hogshead casks.
Tomatin Metal is a nod to the distillery’s 12 copper stills and has been aged in first fill Bourbon barrels.
Tomatin Water is a reference to the water drawn from the Alt-na-Firth burn to make Tomatin, matured in both Sherry butts and Bourbon barrels
Only 6,000 bottles of each expression were produced, with the collection launched in 2017.
This is from a Private Collection and as such has some minor marks on the boxes showing the 6ish years since it was released.
